EasyPro Technical Bulletin 5 - Re-Installing a Canon S520 printer for the
EasyPro™ Hardware
To re-install the Canon S520 printer, you will require the Canon S520 printer
and a USB "dongle" (also known as a Flash Drive or Jump Drive) for copying
files to the EasyPro.
Follow these procedures:
-
Attach your USB dongle to a computer from which you can access the web
-
Cut and paste the following URL into your web browser:
http://www.srsmedical.com/downloads/software/easypro/printer_drivers/cannons520.exe
-
Save the file to the USB dongle.
-
Turn the EasyPro off, and disconnect the Canon S520 printer.
-
Connect the dongle to the EasyPro and open My Computer.
-
Press the Folders button to show both the C and D drives in a 2-paned view.
-
Navigate to the D: drive - this is the directory for the dongle.
-
Locate the file canons520.exe - this is the "self-extractor" for the printer
drivers.
-
Click on canons520.exe with the right mouse button and choose Copy from the
menu.
-
Now Navigate to C:\ and choose Paste, to paste the cannons520.exe file onto the
C: drive at the top level.
-
Double-click on the cannons520.exe file to start the self-extraction program.
Wait until files stop being listed in the box, then press OK. The files are now
present on the EasyPro system, and you will let Windows XP Embedded install the
drivers automatically in the next steps.
-
Power on the printer, then reconnect the printer USB cable to the EasyPro.
-
When you connect the cable, you will see "Found New Hardware". Follow the steps
in the wizard to the screen that includes a "Have Disk" button.
-
Click "Have Disk" and navigate to: C:\S520xp162us
-
Click on the file s520.inf

This should install the drivers. Check to see if this is now the default
printer (look for a checkmark on its printer icon in printers and faxes
-
If this is not the default printer, right-click on the icon to make it the
default printer.
-
Print a test page to make sure it printed properly. You can do this by
right-clicking on the printer icon, selecting Properties, and clicking on
"Print Test Page."
-

My Computer again to go back to C:\S520xp162usjust us.
-
Locate the file setup.exe and double-click to do a full installation.
